The “At School ESL” app teaches 28 words that students need to know for their life at school. The words are presented in five groups: “In the classroom” shows items that can be found in most classrooms (clock, whiteboard, coat rack, computer, desk and glue). “People in the school” are the students, the principal, the teacher, the librarian, the secretary, and the custodian. “Places in the school” are the gymnasium, the hallway, the office, the library and the washroom. “Students’ personal things” include a cap, a backpack, a lunch box, a raincoat and running shoes. In the United States and some other English-speaking countries, running shoes are called sneakers. “Tools for learning” are books, crayons, notebooks, a note pad, a ruler and a pencil.
Of course there are many other words to be learned about life at school. Ask a member of your community if you need to know a particular word.

This suite of eight user-friendly apps is intended to introduce vocabulary to students who are learning English.
In all activities in each app, students will see a graphic, read the English word, and hear the word spoken by an accomplished teacher. Students are invited to participate in four activities: "Lets learn" (words are repeated with ample time for the student to practice saying them); "Lets practice" (a drag and drop activity matching printed words with pictures); "Lets play" (a game in which students match graphics and sound); and "Quiz" (students must choose the correct picture for a written and spoken word). Even young students who do not yet read will be able to use all activities because the sound is always attached to graphics and word boxes.
